STREET LIGHTING

Autodesk® Simulation CFD Training and Implementation (3 days) for heat engineers and CAD designers:

Nicolas is the mechanical design lead for a global company specialized in LED lighting solutions, more specifically for street, road, urban, industrial, sports and architectural applications. As a member of the global research centre of the group, his objectives are to support the various local branches and exceed specifications in terms of photometry performances, mechanics and environmental standards. Being part of a global group, products have to be constantly adapted to local specifications.

« While CFD hadn’t been used much because heat engineers were lacking time, the CFD Hands On training put it back on the forefront of product development by democratizing it to the CAD designers. Since the training, CFD has been used extensively and has had a real impact on the optimization of our products. Even though they are not engineers, CAD designers have been driving the heat sinks and drivers optimizations. Because they are not heat engineers, they follow the specific methodology developed by CFD Hands On and they come up with out-of-the-box and non-traditional solutions to improve the cooling of our lighting systems. Heat engineers focus on validating CFD results leading to a 2 to 4°C agreement with physical test results. The synergy between CFD and physical tests is extensively leveraged. We are very satisfied. »
